My story:
In 2019, after 9 years of teaching on the seacoast, working for amazing dance schools, fitness facilities, and colleges, I decided I wanted to branch out and begin working more independently. My teaching journey had ebbed and flowed as I experienced life changes, most specifically the births of my sweet babies and navigating life as a mom. As well as the circumstances out of my control - fitness facilities closing and moving and teaching opportunities evolving. So I started offering dance sessions and fitness classes through a dance studio in Exeter, in addition to my current teaching load at a local gym.
Fast forward to February 2020 when I decided to take the leap, rent space and set a schedule. I established my LLC and was excited for the next phase of my teaching career. I held an Open House with sample classes, swag, and coffee.
Do I need to continue? I believe we all know what March 2020 brought us. A global pandemic. As the world shut down I made the decision to try this "virtual stuff" and set up a small dance floor in my home where I taught ballet and some fitness, mostly to keep community together and see people. As the world kept turning and we learned this pandemic wasn't ending anytime soon, I transitioned to my garage. After months of anxieties, experimenting with virtual equipment, purchasing equipment, technology, software, etc., wondering if I should just throw in the towel until the pandemic ended, I made things work. Pre-dance on Zoom!? Sounds crazy! But I made it work.
As things started to lighten up I thought - this is it, I can try again. But fast forward again to March 2022 and I was told I had torn my meniscus and would need surgery to continue with my career. Long story short - I am still in recovery, but moving forward with an amazing PT team, and I have the renewed confidence that the time is NOW. Pair that with my beautiful children both in school, and the opportunity for growth is in my hands.
I am so looking forward to this next chapter, and I hope the community, my friends and family, new and returning members/students, will be by my side. The support I have already received is indescribable and I am so grateful.
To the future -
